Beta 1,3-1,6 Glucan





Beta 1,3-1,6 glucan is the best polysaccharide, approved by medical doctors worldwide. It helps boost your immune system and strengthens white blood cells. It is 100 times more effective in eradicating free radicals compared to vitamin E and C. It acts on fibroblasts to increase collagen and elastin production, which promotes skin elasticity and reduces wrinkles. Beta-glucan also promotes DNA/RNA repair in skin cells.


Beta-glucan has many different structures, but the best structure is Beta 1,3-1,6 glucan, which is found only in Lacquered (Lingzhi) mushroom or in black yeast. However, black yeast contains 10 times more Beta 1,3-1,6 glucan compared to Lacquered (Lingzhi) mushroom.


Beta-glucan found in barley, ginseng, liquorice, yeast (for bread), Brewer’s yeast, etc. are in different structures (e.g. Beta 1-3,1-4 glucan) which only provides moisture or heals wounds but does NOT boost immune system or strengthen white blood cells.

As Beta 1,3-1,6 glucan is absorbed into the body, it activates M-cell in the intestines to stimulate immune cells called macrophage and natural killer cell, making them significantly increase in amount and strength. Natural killer cells fight against virus and cancer cells, preventing them from entering the blood stream and different body systems. Macrophage traps and destroys foreign cells that enter the body and stimulates the production of other immune cells, which lead to stronger defense. Additionally, it stimulates the production of “Collagen” and “Elastin”, making your skin healthy by improving elasticity and reducing wrinkles.



Beta 1,3-1,6 glucan from black yeast is 100% natural, in which it was officially given ‘food additive’ status in Notification No. 120, the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Japan (currently Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare).


Our company then decided to include Beta 1,3-1,6 glucan from black yeast as the main ingredient of “MacBeta”. We sent a sample of the black yeast used in cultivation and the product from black yeast for inspection at the Institute of Microbiology Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS). Results showed that the DNA in the black yeast used in cultivation is 100% identical to Aureobasidium (a species of black yeast) and the products made from black yeast contains up to 67.2% of Beta 1,3-1,6 glucan, and this has been published by Guangdong Detection Center of Microbiology on April 27, 2012.

Although Red Yeast Rice derived from Monascus Purpureus offers many health benefits, producing Red Yeast Rice from other species (other than Monascus Purpureus) and incorrect fermentation methods will lead to the formation of toxin “Citrinin”. Toxin Citrinin is a substance originated as a result of defective manufacturing of Red Yeast Rice, which is harmful to the kidney (nephrotoxin). Therefore, it is a regulation in Taiwan that Red Yeast Rice should not contain toxin Citrinine greater than 5 ppm (parts per million). Most manufacturers would not provide this information. It requires great expertise, precision and high cost to avoid generating toxin Citrinin. In order to produce high quality Red Yeast Rice, our company ensures that the manufacturing process is done carefully and thoroughly. On October 4, 2007, MacVessel was certified by the Food Industry Research and Development Institute of Taiwan that it contains only 0.3 ppm of toxin Citrinin, which is 16 times lower than the toxic figure allowed.
